Meet the Guardian of the Sacred Inca Mountain, Cerro El Plomo
The Majestic Cerro Leonera
Cerro Leonera
Cerro Leonera is one of those mountains that is not simply climbed—it is truly experienced.
Named after the great puma that once roamed these lands, a symbol of strength, freedom and wild spirit, Cerro Leonera rises in the heart of the Central Andes. This remarkable summit offers an unforgettable high-altitude adventure for those seeking to challenge themselves while developing a deep connection with the mountains of Chile.
From the very first steps, the route reveals vast alpine landscapes, beautiful ridgelines and outstanding views of some of the most iconic peaks in the Andes. Throughout much of the ascent, the majestic Apu Cerro El Plomo dominates the skyline, accompanying us as an ancestral presence within one of the most spectacular mountain landscapes in central Chile.
The adventure begins at Cancha de Carreras, a wide alpine basin surrounded by towering mountains that serves as our base camp. Beneath the clear skies of the Andes, we prepare for a demanding yet deeply rewarding mountaineering experience.
The ascent follows a series of scenic ridgelines that test the physical endurance, mental resilience and determination of every mountaineer. As elevation is gained, the scenery becomes increasingly dramatic, the air thinner and purer, and the feeling of immersion in the Andes more profound.
Reaching the summit of Cerro Leonera means standing face to face with the grandeur of the Andes Mountains. From this spectacular natural viewpoint, often swept by high mountain winds, you’ll enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Cerro El Plomo (5,424 m / 17,795 ft), Punta Santiago (5,083 m / 16,677 ft), Parsifal (5,379 m / 17,648 ft), Bismarck (4,650 m / 15,256 ft), and many other impressive peaks that form the renowned Plomo Massif.
More than simply reaching a summit, Cerro Leonera is a journey of effort, discovery and connection. It is an experience that invites you to feel the energy of the Andes, discover the spiritual significance of this remarkable landscape and return home with the satisfaction of standing atop one of the great summits of Chile’s Central Andes.
Your perfect first step into high-altitude mountaineering—reach nearly 5,000 meters (16,253 ft) in the heart of the Chilean Andes.

Reservations
To secure your place on the expedition, a 50% deposit per participant or group is required. Payment can be made by domestic or international bank transfer, Mercado Pago payment link, PayPal payment link or Wise.
You may select any of the published departure dates. If you are viewing this page on a smartphone, the available dates will appear near the bottom of the page. If you are viewing it on a computer, the dates will appear on the left-hand side.
As our prices vary according to the number of confirmed participants, the final price per person will depend on the total number of participants confirmed for each expedition.
For example: If an expedition currently has 3 confirmed participants and you decide to join, you will become the 4th participant. The price corresponding to a group of 4 participants will therefore apply to every member of the group, according to the selected itinerary and departure date.
The remaining balance is payable to the lead guide at the time of pick-up. Payment may be made in cash in Chilean pesos, USD or EUR; by domestic or international credit or debit card using the portable Getnet payment terminal available in our vehicles; or through the same payment method used for the deposit. In the latter case, a Mercado Pago or PayPal payment link will be sent, as applicable.
**Deposits paid from outside Chile must be made through PayPal: When using this payment method, the applicable PayPal transaction fee will be added according to the deposit amount. This fee is charged by PayPal for international payments. Currency conversions from CLP (Chilean pesos) into foreign currencies are calculated using the exchange rate applicable on the date each payment is made, both for the deposit and the remaining balance.
How We Work and Enjoy Every Adventure
We operate exclusively with mountain-ready 4WD vehicles (comfortable vehicles with ample capacity for travelling on mountain roads).
We work with small groups that generally do not exceed six participants per departure (allowing us to provide a more personalized service and create a welcoming, close-knit and focused environment).
Allmountain is certified by SERNATUR (Tour Guide Certification and Adventure Tourism Certification in the areas of High-Altitude Mountaineering, Hiking, Trekking and Rock Climbing) and is currently registered with the institution’s National Registry of Tourism Service Providers.
Our guides are experienced mountain professionals and hold the certifications required to lead these activities. Their qualifications are regularly updated and include Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification.
On every activity, we prioritize sustainable and responsible tourism practices: we use recyclable and organic products, follow Leave No Trace (LNT) principles and support local tourism, among other initiatives.
If you would like to join a trek or expedition but do not have the required technical equipment, Allmountain includes it whenever the activity requires it. Examples include tents, crampons, ice axes and helmets.
Our Commitment to Sustainable and Responsible Tourism
On every trek, expedition, mountain tour and rock-climbing trip, we are committed to:
Cultural Sustainability:
Local artisan souvenirs: We visit cultural centers, museums and craft markets to support products made by local communities. This also gives our clients the opportunity to engage with local people and enjoy a more complete experience of their traditions, cuisine and way of life.
Environmental Sustainability:
We use natural soaps and cleaning products that do not contaminate the soil or water in the areas we visit.
We prioritize glass containers and, after every activity, separate and recycle the waste generated during our trips.
Whenever possible, we help clean the places we visit and carry out any litter we find along the way.
Energy Sustainability:
Solar battery chargers: We use solar-powered chargers for our mobile phones, cameras and other electronic devices.
