Cerro San Ramón is one of the most iconic peaks of the Sierra de Ramón mountain range and one of the greatest trekking challenges near Santiago, Chile. Rising to approximately 3,253 meters (10,673 ft) above sea level, this summit dominates the eastern skyline of the city and offers a demanding, rewarding, and unforgettable mountain experience. The ascent covers approximately 26 to 30 km (16 to 19 mi) round trip, with nearly 2,000 meters (6,560 ft) of elevation gain, depending on the chosen route and seasonal conditions. It is a physically demanding mountain recommended for people with good fitness, previous experience in long-distance trekking, and the motivation to complete a full day in the Andes. Along the route, hikers will travel through mountain trails, ravines, scree slopes, and exposed terrain while experiencing changing weather conditions such as wind, cold, heat, snow, or ice, depending on the season. The reward awaits at the summit with spectacular panoramic views over Santiago, the Andes Mountains, and much of central Chile.

Best season for this trekking adventure

 

This trek can be enjoyed year-round. If you enjoy hiking on snow, winter scenery, and cold mountain conditions, we recommend visiting during autumn and winter. If you prefer sunny days, warmer temperatures, and colorful spring and summer landscapes, the warmer months are ideal.


Requirements

 

Previous trekking and/or mountaineering experience is recommended.

You must be in good physical condition and have no medical restrictions incompatible with the activity.

Recent surgeries or injuries are not recommended due to the physical demands of the route.

Appropriate personal technical clothing and equipment are required.

Minors must present written authorization from their parents or legal guardians.

All participants must complete and sign the required medical form before the activity.

Completing the required medical form before the activity is mandatory. Participants must also bring their own prescribed medication and are encouraged to carry a personal first-aid kit if necessary.

We work with small groups that generally do not exceed six participants per trip, allowing us to provide a safer, more personalized, and enjoyable mountain experience.

 

Allmountain Chile is officially registered with SERNATUR (Chile’s National Tourism Service) and certified to operate Adventure Tourism activities, including High Mountain Expeditions, Hiking, Trekking, and Rock Climbing.

 

Our mountain guides are highly experienced professionals holding internationally recognized certifications, including Wilderness First Responder (WFR), with continuous professional training and updates.

If you would like to join one of our trekking or mountaineering expeditions but do not own the required technical equipment, Allmountain Chile provides it whenever it is included in the selected program, such as tents, crampons, ice axes, helmets, and other essential mountaineering gear.

Solar battery chargers: We use portable solar charging systems to power our mobile phones, cameras, satellite communication devices, and other electronic equipment whenever conditions allow.
